Curated conversations, guided tours, musical performances, and immersive experiences create the magic and impact of Know Us.
Get ready to connect, enjoy and expand your network within a transformational weekend you won’t forget.
Join us this September to learn, connect & build with our national network of professionals, artists, entrepreneurs and everything in between.
Seven years ago, we visited New Orleans and knew we’d never been anywhere like it before. What began as a leisure trip turned into a transformational, pivotal moment at the Whitney Plantation, 45 minutes outside of the city. On a guided tour by a descendant of the enslaved population, we heard - “We aren’t just here to talk about something that happened in the past... we’re here to draw the parallels.”
And once we started drawing the parallels, we couldn’t stop. Our lens shifted. We understood the historical context that drives everything our communities currently experience that much clearer. We saw our nonprofit and grassroots leaders as the heroes that they are, and understood that it’s on us to make sure we’re connected and plugged in to do everything we can to help our communities win.
We also saw that few people know about all of the incredible stories, impact, and people in their own cities. We saw that you can have a strong network and still miss authentic connections to the people, the movement, and the missions driving community forward.
But we saw an opportunity. Break the silos. Celebrate the culture. Learn to protect our people. And build stronger communities, together. And in this, we saw ourselves. All of us. We knew it was time for something to change, so we created Know Us.
We created an experience that allows you to do it all. Enjoy your time, and dig deeper. Celebrate the culture, and pour into the community. Treat yourself, and build together.
New Orleans was our paradigm shift.
Since then, we’ve brought Know Us to life in three cities nationwide - Tulsa, Charleston and Detroit.
Now, it’s time to bring it back to where it all started.
The City That Started it All..
Seven years after our original visit, four years after incorporating, three national cities under our belt, and countless stories of community, connection and impact later, we’re back to get to know New Orleans, the city that started it all.
-
We build our programming in three blocks: Hear Us, See Us, and Join Us - each ultimately being how you Know Us.
On Friday, our "Hear Us" Day, we kick off with networking & connecting, community conversation, and live music & spoken word.
On Saturday, our "See Us" Day, we activate community spaces throughout the city and engage in guided tours, curated experiences, activated community spaces and micro-conversations. We collaborate with local partners to build sessions that immerse you in community while creating space for fun, intentional dialogue, connection and creativity.
On Sunday, our "Join Us" Day, we host a youth-led conversation to elevate youth voice and perspective, then break into small group workshops to build tangible connections and next steps to carry learnings and insights beyond the weekend.
Stay tuned for the full Know Us: New Orleans itinerary to be released in the coming weeks.

Authenticity is really important to us. We work closely with local nonprofits, businesses, entities and leaders, spending months building relationships and collaborating on programming to deliver the final Know Us experience. We believe intention and impact is in the details, so we're meticulous in our goal to program an authentic, fun, informative, transformational and impactful immersive conference.
We prioritize partnerships with Black and POC vendors and organizations from front of house to the tiniest details, because it's bigger than the weekend for us. We see Know Us as a curation of Black Excellence, and we want you to feel that in everything we do.
